Message from the Principal

As we are all well aware Remembrance Day, 11 November,
has a special significance this year as it marks the 100th Anniversary of the Armistice
which ended the First World War.
In the four years of the war 330,000 Australians had served overseas and more than 60,000 had died.

Almighty God on this day of remembering help me learn the lessons of the past,
to understand the cost of war, the price of peace and the extent of human sacrifice.
Speak to me and help me to not only say the words but truly to mean them:
‘We will remember them’.
May I appreciate the present and work always towards a better future.

Dear Parents, Students and Staff,

MASS – Today we celebrated Mass to remember the sacrifices that have been made and to pray for those who have served in the armed forces to enable us in Australia to have the freedom to live in peace. I congratulate the PPB class for the special role they played in the celebration and for the wonderful way they conducted the readings and prayers.

SCHOOL SONG – We will be launching a school song at the assembly on Friday 23 November. We would love to see many of you come along to be part of this event. The song has been in the planning for some time and is now ready for its initial performance. The children have been learning the song in the lead up to the launch. I am very appreciative of the work that Tim Count and Marina Powell have put into producing the St Peter’s song that will now complement the school prayer.

BASKETBALL COURT UPGRADE – It is pleasing to finally see the completion of the playground re-development with the re-surfacing of the Basketball court. There has been a significant delay in finishing this stage of the project due to inclement weather. A ten day window was required to enable the surface to be put down and painted. This span of time has been difficult to find with the weather pattern we have experienced over the last six months. There will be further maintenance carried out of the installed equipment before the project is finalised.

COMMUNITY MEETING AGM – I also remind you that our Annual General Meeting will be held on Tuesday 27 November at 7pm in the School Library. These meetings are a great way to showcase our accomplishments this year and to become more aware of future proposed school improvements. All parents are welcome to attend.

God Bless

Greg Ward
