Message from the Principal

O gracious Master, infuse in our hearts the spotless light of Your Divine Wisdom
and open the eyes of our mind that we may understand the teachings of Your Gospel.
Instill in us also the fear of Your blessed commandments, so that having curbed all carnal desires,
we may lead a spiritual life, both thinking and doing everything to please You.
For You, O Christ, our God, are the enlightenment of our souls and bodies;
and to You we render glory, together with Your eternal Father,
and with Your all holy, life-creating Spirit, now and ever, and forever.

Dear Parents and Guardians

KINDY INTERVIEWS – I am currently interviewing for Kindy 2022. This year we already have 48 new families applying for a position at our school. It is extremely important that our current families ensure enrolment forms have been completed and returned to the school office. I ask our new families the reason they have chosen St Peter’s Catholic School for their child. The response is always that they have heard such positive feedback from parents already at the school. I sincerely thank you for sharing our good news stories. We enjoy an oversubscribed list of applications. This is a credit to our school, and all who work within it, for the benefit of the wonderful children in our care.

In the words of Catherine McAuley:
“The blessing of unity still dwells amongst us- and oh what a blessing- it should make all things else pass into nothing…
The true Spirit of Mercy-flowing on us.”

LENT – Lent is here and we are presented with the opportunity to give expression to the type of supporters we are. Some supporters celebrate only the happy time in Jesus’ life such as Easter and Christmas. As ‘true believers,’ we should also pray with Him on Holy Thursday, stand by him on Good Friday and join Him in prayer and fasting during the forty days of Lent.
We were delighted to have Father Jeronimo join us at school to celebrate our Ash Wednesday Mass. He is also joining, a class a week, in conversations of their Faith. We encourage our families to support our Parish at this Sunday’s Children’s Choir supported by our new Sacramental Coordinator, Faith Rico. The Mass commences at 8.30am.
Throughout the coming weeks, our classes will participate in the Parish Masses on a Tuesday at 9am. Parents are welcome to join us at these celebrations. Together at our Masses, and through our preparation of our students throughout Lent, we renew our Christian commitment and express Christ’s message of love, care and forgiveness.

PICNIC ON THE GREEN – Thank you to our amazing P&F who are organising another fabulous community event on Friday 26th March at 4pm. Picnic blankets will be rolled out and our families will have the opportunity to celebrate each other’s company whilst the children enjoy all the attractions. Thank you to our P&F volunteers who acknowledge the importance of these community raising events which are a highlight for our students and school community.

MATHEMATICS PROFESSIONAL LEARNING – Last Friday, our staff gathered to continue our work our Vision for Learning and how this is reflected through the learning area of Numeracy. We explored our TRUE Inquiry model and how key teacher attitudes and pedagogical strategies can enhance student engagement and learning. We were inspired by Australia’s Local Hero award recipient, Eddie Woo and focused on 10 key strategies to be used across the school. I congratulate our staff on their commitment to whole school language and strategy.
