Message from the Principal

Spirit of God, grant me:
The gift of wisdom
To see the world through your eyes,
The gift of counsel
To make difficult decisions,
The gifts of knowledge and understanding
To use my mind to know you and to love you,
The gift of fortitude
To have the courage to live in the faith
Despite the difficulties and disappointments,
The gift of piety
To be able to express my special love
And commitment to you,
And the right kind of awesome fear
That makes me pause to wonder and revere God’s Love.
Amen.

Dear Parents and Guardians

WORLD TEACHERS’ DAY – “No education system is better than its teachers. Teachers are the custodians of learning; they impart knowledge, values, and skills; at their best, they tap into the hopes and talents of young people and help them to grow into productive citizens.”
(Ban Ki-moon, UN Secretary General)

Today, we demonstrated our sincere gratitude to the St Peter’s staff for their commitment, dedication, professionalism and abiding sense of vocation. They enable our wonderful students to realise their God given potential. Thank you to our wonderful P&F representatives who treated all our teachers. The school provided morning tea and coffee as a sign of our appreciation for all who contribute to developing the whole child at St Peter’s School.

At St Peter’s:
We plant seeds that one day will grow. We water seeds already planted, knowing that they hold future promise. We lay foundations that will need further development….
We cannot do everything, and there is a sense of liberation in realising that… we may never see the end result, but that is the difference between the master builder and the worker… we are workers, not master builders; ministers, not messiahs.
We are prophets of a future not our own.

INTERSCHOOL ATHLETICS – Yesterday, the Interschool Athletics Carnival was another opportunity to build community spirit and support our children and staff.
Miss Miles has worked closely with the athletes each morning to ensure our students were prepared for the day. I thank our parents who have supported the before school training sessions and to Mr Nettleton for working to support Miss Miles and the students.

STUDENT BEHAVIOUR SUPPORT POLICY – Our staff have worked extremely hard on developing our whole school approach to emotional regulation and class support of student behaviours. Please click the link to read over the policy. Pastoral Care Behaviour Support and Bullying Policy
The official launch will occur at our Meet and Greet session with parents at the beginning of the 2021 school year. It will be on our website from this week.
The student designed Code of Conduct is on display, in our walkway area, between the oval and Undercover area and on our TRUE tree in the undercover area. We are very proud of our students from Kindy to Year 6 who all contributed to the development of the St Peter’s Student Code of Conduct.

SCHOOL IMPROVEMENTS AND CONTRACTORS – Over the recent school holidays, we completed some painting around the school, a new chicken coop was built, and we are just about to unveil our children’s artwork for the Reflection Garden and our student designed Code of Conduct. We have also changed Cleaner Contractors and Sanitary Contractors. The new companies align in their work, and case manage once a week, which we hope will lead an improvement in the cleaning standards in classrooms, school grounds and toilets. It is fabulous to receive such great feedback from our students……..

“We noticed when we were in the toilets, the soap dispenser was new. It smelt amazing like coconut and lime. The toilets smelt amazing too.
We also noticed that there were new electrical devices around the school. We think they should keep it up because it is great quality.
It is also a quicker way to hand sanitise and make our hands clean. Lots of people like the smell and think they should keep it up.
So we should keep this up and please don’t ruin the process. Thank you!”

COVID UPDATE – All Principals in CEWA received the following information:
The COVID-19 situation in WA continues to change and be closely monitored, and we have our first update for the term which may be relevant to excursions for some schools, or large school events for others.
RELAXATION TO PHASE 4 – On 19 October 2020, the Premier announced that Phase 4 of the WA COVID-19 Roadmap would be modified and extended. This modification includes the relaxation of the two square metre rule for some venues, effective from Saturday 24 October 2020. These changes are designed to support performing arts and live music venues. They apply to ticketed venues with fixed seating.
As such, the two square metre rule continues to apply to school facilities, including school halls, gymnasiums, meeting rooms and staff rooms.

As a result of this information, we will, as soon as possible, update parents on our COVID Safe celebrations of Graduation and Christmas celebrations.
I thank you in advance for your understanding as we work with restrictions and continue to ensure our students enjoy our normal calendar of events.

SCHOOL BOARD & P&F NOMINATIONS – Please consider nominating for a School Board or P&F position for 2021. There are so many exciting things happening around
St Peter’s in the future and YOU could play a vital role in the planning and process of things which will benefit all children in our school. Nomination Forms are in this newsletter and the office for your convenience.

CONGRATULATIONS AND WELCOME BACK – This term we welcomed back to the school Mitzi Johnston and Natalie Clemente who recently got married. Congratulations!!!

Ciao and keep smiling
