Newsletter – Friday 24 June 2022

Message from the Principal

 O God,
who has given unto Thy blessed Apostle Peter
the keys to the kingdom of heaven,
and the power to bind and loose:
grant that we may be delivered,
through the help of this intercession,
from the slavery of all our sins:
Who lives and reigns world without end.

Dear Parents and Guardians

ST PETER AND ST PAUL FEAST DAY – We look forward to celebrating our Patron Saint next Friday. We welcome you to our Whole School Mass at 10.30am. This is followed by a Sausage Sizzle and a day of fun events in the Undercover Area. Our students will enjoy a Free Dress Day and all donations go towards our Catholic Missions. I sincerely thank in advance, Father Jeronimo for celebrating Mass and congratulate all our wonderful students for their commitment to Mission Day. We will also warmly welcome back Mr Greg Ward as he completes his service to Catholic Education and looks forward to his retirement.

JUMP ROPE FOR HEART – We look forward to the skip off on Thursday! Our students’ fitness levels have definitely improved with this focus across the school. Students can wear their sports uniform with a red accessory – bracelet / scrunchie/ t-shirt. Your choice! The skipping attire that allows for the best skipping to take place! We look forward to seeing how much everyone has improved with their skills over the term.

SCHOOL PHOTOGRAPHS – This year our school photos will commence in Week 10 of Term Two, on Monday 27 June. All children from Year 1-6 are required to be dressed in full winter uniform (including a tie and jumper). Children in Kindy and Pre Primary will wear their faction sports top. Please click on the links for uniform requirements and to see the photo itinerary. Newsletter Photos 2022 3P

CROSS COUNTRY – The weather was on our side this week and we enjoyed a fabulous Cross Country event. The students did their very best for their faction and many parents came to cheer them on. These community events are so much more special after our time not being able to run them. Our gratitude and joy were extremely high throughout the event. Please see Mrs Perrin’s report further along in this newsletter with some great photos also!

REPORTS – I have been impressed by the level of detail provided to parents, by their class teachers, on the learning outcomes of each child in their class. Many hours are dedicated to this process, and I am sure the snapshot you receive will be no surprise. Teachers ensure that through work sent home, emails and face to face meetings, every parent has a good indication of their child’s development prior to the formal report. Please don’t hesitate to contact you class teacher with any queries you may have. These reports can be accessed by parents by the close of business on Wednesday 29th June.

MISSION DAY – We will be celebrating Mission Day on Friday 1st July. Please read for more information. Mission Day info

SPECIAL NEEDS SUPPORT – Emma Marsh, a parent of an Autistic/ADHD Year 3 student, has organised a Facebook group for St Peter’s families with students of diverse needs (learning differences, physical, medical and mental health needs, developmental conditions and other differences). This group will serve to connect families in similar situations, with a view to sharing resources and recommendations, learning from and supporting each other. Families can choose to simply be a part of the Facebook group or occasionally catch up in a space provided by St Peter’s. All differences are welcome. If you are interested in joining, please send a request to Facebook group:

STAFFING – It is with great sadness that I announce that Robyn Gianotti has resigned from St Peter’s Primary School, effective Term 3, Week 1.
Robyn commenced in the Front Office in 2013, and we will all very much miss her welcoming smile and get-things-done attitude. At Robyn’s request, we will have the opportunity to farewell her at the end of the year. Robyn will be increasing her workdays at Mount Lawley High School. I would like to welcome Sarah Roberts who will be joining Team Pete on a Tuesday and Thursday in Term 3.

THANK YOU – As we approach the end of semester One, I thank the staff of St Peter’s who are an exceptional group of dedicated professionals. I am constantly in awe of their commitment. The depths of their conversations reflect professionals who have a highly developed understanding of good pedagogical practice. I wish to take this opportunity to acknowledge all their wonderful work. I have been teaching in Catholic schools for many years now and can say our staff are second to none. May God bless each and every one of them and may they find comfort in the knowledge their vocations as teacher, sages and educators are a lofty and most honourable calling.

I wish you all a safe and happy holiday break. We will see you all refreshed and ready for Term 3 commencing Tuesday 19th July.

Ciao and keep smiling

Pina Hutcheson
