Message from the Principal

O’ Jesus, I believe that I received Thy
Flesh to eat and Thy Blood to drink,
because Thou hast said it and Thy word
is true. Jesus, Increase my faith.
Amen

Dear Parents and Guardians

FATHER’S DAY – It is that time of year when we acknowledge and thank the wonderful fathers and father figures in our lives. To celebrate this special day, our students shared breakfast with the special men in their lives this morning. Thank you to our wonderful P & F for organising this event. We wish all our fathers and Father figures a wonderful weekend celebrating their special day. Please see the gallery of photos.

PARENT TRIBE MEETING – We enjoyed great support for our workshop presented by Telephone Speech and Hearing. The presentation by the Occupational Therapist provided parents with activities for home to develop executive functioning, fine motor and gross motor.

FAREWELL – This week, we farewelled Mrs Alina Lewandowski as she retired from St Peter’s after almost 18 years of dedicated service. Her quick wit and quiet sense of humour will be missed. Alina hopes to return to do relief in 2023 after a lovely trip back to Poland. We ensured that Alina received a wonderful gift from the school to show our appreciation and well wishes for fulfillment and happiness in retirement.

WELCOME – We welcome to our team Orla Moran. An Education Assistant who will be working across the school. Orla is a very experienced EA who has recently been working at Mercy College. Welcome Orla to our school!

DANCE TROUPE – Last Thursday, 66 of our Year 4-6 students took part in the Performing Arts Festival forming as a Dance Troupe at the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre. A huge thanks to Katrina Abreu, Louise Tonus, Emily Welsh and Elise Piccirilli on helping to create a wonderful performance.

P&F – Our wonderful P&F have been extremely busy over the past few weeks. We are so fortunate to have our engaged parents supporting the school and community. Here are some of their activities:

ST PETER’S DADS GOLF DAY – A huge hit with over 38 participants despite poor weather and yet enjoying the comradery and experience. Thank you to Dave Dawes,
Matt Nettleton and Paul Brennan who co-ordinated this event.

FATHER’S DAY BREAKFAST – Thank you to Betti Radford and her committee for organising the HUGE breakfast this morning. I also thank our teachers for opening their classrooms early so that our dads could have a tour of the classroom, receive their handmade gift and then join the Tug Of War competition. Lots of laughter and joy in celebration of our dads.

DISCO TIME – Our wonderful Kindy classes will enjoy their special disco, at school, with their teachers on 8th and 9th September in the new Library.
Pre Primary to Year 6 Disco will be on Friday 9th September in the Undercover Area. Thank you to our P&F for co-ordinating this much anticipated event.

CHILD PROTECTION WEEK –
“Those that trust the Lord will find new strength. They will soar high” Isaiah 40:31
The Year Six students have collaborated with Father Jeronimo and the Parish, and they will be leading Mass at the Church to recognise the importance of child safety and well-being. Our buddy classes have joined together to design kites as a symbol of soaring high. This artwork will be displayed in the Church. All families are invited to attend this special Mass.
Date: Sunday 11th September
Time: 10am
Place: St Peter the Apostle Church
The TRUE Kite – Designed by the Year Six Spiritual Ministry for the Parish

PARK RUN – To conclude the St Peter’s Father Figures Run Club, we will be heading to the Yokine Park Run to get parents, kids and even some teachers from our school community together for a morning run. It doesn’t matter if you haven’t made it along to any of the Run Club sessions so far. Everyone is welcome and encouraged (prams and doggos welcome too!) You don’t have to run. Walking is absolutely fine as well!
If you haven’t heard about Park Run before, it is a free, fun and friendly community event. You can walk, jog or spectate. Click on this link for more info:
https://www.parkrun.com.au/yokine/

Details:
When: September 10th at 8am
Where: Yokine Reserve, Wordsworth Ave
How far: It’s a 5km course, but there is a 2.5km option for the little ones (or shorter again if you’d prefer)
Cost: Free (but bring a couple of dollars for a sausage sizzle at the end)
St Peter’s Dads will be putting on a sausage sizzle at the end of the run so we can hang around, re-fuel and hear how everyone went.
The course is well-marshalled by the excellent volunteers from Park Run, however we’d love to get some volunteer parents that weren’t going to run to help out and act as marshalls/cheerleaders along the way. We’ll also be looking for volunteers to man the BBQ and refreshments, so please get in touch with Dave Dawes at d.dawes@iinet.net.au if you’re able to help out.
We’ll need to get an idea of numbers, so if you’re interested can you please register at: https://www.trybooking.com/CCAOC

NCEC CONFERENCE – The Leadership Team will be attending the National Catholic Education Conference next week. Please contact Mr Matt Nettleton or Mrs Bianca Flamini.
I leave you with this thought:
‘Plenty of people miss their share of happiness, not because they never found it, but because they didn’t stop to enjoy it.’

I wish you all a wonderful Father’s Day this Sunday, and my wish for you all, is that you find time to stop and enjoy!

Ciao and keep smiling
