Message from the Principal

Jesus, I believe you love me.
Please forgive me for my sins.
Help me to be a better person.
Amen.

Dear Parents and Guardians

ATHLETICS CARNIVAL – Our prayers were answered on Tuesday, and we were able to enjoy wonderful weather as our students enjoyed their Sports Carnival. I extend my sincere thanks and congratulate Miss Miles on another fabulous Sports Carnival where the children were all involved in supporting their faction and one another. I sincerely thank the staff and parents for their involvement in the many roles required to ensure the success of the carnival throughout the day. I thank all our families for their wonderful support of this school event and for your encouragement of the children. My sincere thanks to our enthusiastic and dedicated P&F for their catering services on the day. Congratulations to Dominic on their fabulous win. We now look forward to our St Peter’s Team representing our school at the Interschool Carnival in Term 4. Congratulations to everyone for another wonderful example of what makes our St Peter’s community one which we are all very proud. Please see further along in the newsletter for results.

PRINCIPAL OFFICE TAKE OVER – Whilst I was at the finish line at the Sports Carnival, there was an office take over. Some very cute Pre Primary students. The new leadership team in action!

TOURNAMENT OF MINDS FINALS – Congratulations to the TOM team and Mrs Julia O’Meara and Mrs Josephine Carbone for an outstanding effort at the TOM State final on the weekend. The students participated in the Language Literature challenge and were competing for a place in the Nationals. We were unsuccessful but took a lot away from the experience. I wish to acknowledge the commitment of the parents involved with the team. Many hours have been spent in support of their children. Congratulations to all involved in representing our school with pride and respect.

FIRST EUCHARIST – Congratulations and God’s blessing to our Year 4 students who received their First Eucharist on the weekend. We pray that this sacrament will help them to develop the incredible connection they have with Jesus in receiving the Body of Christ. I sincerely thank our Year 4 parents for their ongoing support in preparing their children for this sacrament. Congratulations to our Year 4 teachers, Danielle De Cinque, Melissa Hoppenbrouwers, Holly Allen and Kirsty Maher for their outstanding organisation of the sacramental program. Our appreciation is also extended to Father Jeronimo and Faith Rico for their ongoing encouragement and collaboration as we prepare our students on their sacramental journey.

SACRAMENT OF PENANCE – Next Tuesday and Wednesday evening, our Year 3 children will celebrate their First Reconciliation. I thank Father Jeronimo for celebrating this sacrament with our students and reminding them of the relationship they are building with God, through the act of forgiveness. I thank our teachers, Rebecca Vaccaro, Victoria May and Natasha Sharman for preparing our Reconciliation Retreat and ensuring our students are ready to celebrate their First Reconciliation. I also congratulate our parents on their support of their children on their Sacramental journey.

LIFELINK – Many thanks for all the fundraising contributions from our wonderful school community over the course of the year so far. Lifelink has received an overwhelming amount of donations from all participating Catholic Schools.

GRANDPARENTS’ MASS – Our Year 5 students have prepared our end of term Mass. At this Mass, we will celebrate the amazing term we have shared together and welcome our grandparents to the school. We will conclude the Mass with a Grandparents’ Morning Tea in the staffroom. Our gratitude for grandparents will be a wonderful way to conclude Term 4.

STAFFING – Miss Courtney Dunsire is currently on leave and will return in Week 2 of Term 4 on Monday 18th October. We wish her and Frank all God’s blessings as they celebrate their wedding this weekend. Miss Dunsire will return as Mrs Caputi. Miss Alison Miles will also be on leave at the end of this week and will return in Week 2 of
Term 4 as Mrs Perrin. We wish her and Wade all the very best for this exciting new chapter of their lives.
At the end of this term, we sadly farewell Mrs Jenny Biancotti. Jenny would like to spend more time with her three young boys and found her role at our school was not allowing this to happen. Jenny will be sorely missed but we will have her back to run workshops and support us with our parent ‘Tribe’ work.
I am pleased to announce that we will have School Psychologist, Ms Tarryn Scher, commencing at our school in Term 4. Tarryn is an experienced School Psychologist who will be at our school three days a week. She is keen to meet our students and support our St Peter’s families.

NAPLAN – Individual reports will be sent home with students in Year 3 and 5 next week. I am pleased to announce that St Peter’s has once again achieved above the National Average, in all areas, across Years 3 and 5.

HAPPY HOLIDAYS – As this is our last newsletter for Term Three, I thank everyone in our wonderful community for their support of their children and one another. I thank you all for your precious children whom I thoroughly enjoy sharing in their learning journey. I thank our amazing staff and wonderful community for their combined efforts in helping our children grow towards God’s vision for them. I wish you all a safe and happy holiday and that you return rested and ready for term four which commences on Monday 11th October.

Ciao and keep smiling
