Newsletter – Friday 13 December 2019

Message from the Principal

Dear Parents and Guardians

Our last newsletter for the school year is a point of reflection, acknowledging the journey that each of us has taken, as a unified community, to get to this point. I acknowledge and celebrate this journey. I strongly believe that in this year of growth, learning and challenge – our strength has come from the collective group. As we conclude this year, we do so as a supportive body, reflecting on how we have helped hold and shape our motto of ‘TRUE’.
We have worked hard throughout this school year at St Peter’s striving to ensure that our children are offered quality education in all facets of school planning and performance. Included in this are high-standard teaching practice and curriculum design, recognition of the nexus between the bigger canvas of school vision strategic objectives attainment and the dignity, personal and pastoral needs of individuals, all of which are integral to providing students and staff with a pleasant and positive learning environment.

AGM – Thank you for your support at the AGM on Tuesday 3 December. This was a wonderful opportunity to thank the many parent volunteers at our school with a social gathering prior to the meeting. It was also an opportunity to thank the many people at our school that work together to ensure a great learning environment for all our children to thrive. A copy of my Principal Report can be found on the school website. My slideshows of the year that was and teachers for 2020 were a hit with the community. I have included one of the slides in this newsletter.

STAFF FAREWELLS – I sincerely thank the staff, who are leaving us this year, for their dedicated service to the St Peter’s community. On behalf of us all, we wish them every success in their new ventures. We acknowledged these staff at our Thanksgiving Mass and will also have a special presentation for them on Thursday 19 December.
Thank you to Rikki Armstrong, Katherine Carter, Monique Dickenson, Justin Eveson, Clare Francioni, Anjanette Hardy, Fran Hewitt, Jayne McIntyre, Helen Millard,
Karen Pertile, Bruce Plint, Silvia Varrone and Michelle Zani.

YEAR 6 FAREWELL – The end of a school year always comes with mixed emotions as we farewell our graduating class of Year Six students. All our Year Six students are to be congratulated on the mature way they have conducted themselves as leaders this year and for their high level of academic achievements and sporting pursuits. As leaders, they have all fulfilled their roles with great diligence and determination. We say farewell to our Year Six students, and we wish them the very best as they enter secondary education.
The Graduation Mass and Dinner, followed by the Graduation Assembly, were wonderful opportunities to capture the wonderful journey of our Year 6 graduates. An emotional tribute to their learning journey at our school.
To those families leaving St Peter’s this year, many whom have been long time participants in our community, we wish you the very best and thank you for your involvement and support in all our endeavours throughout the years.

Please note that access to SEQTA will be revoked by 9pm on Monday, 16 December 2019 for students not returning to St Peter’s in 2020 (either graduating Year 6 this year or attending another school next year). THANK YOU – In my first year here at St Peter’s, it’s been an exciting, challenging and rewarding time as leader of this great school. I am extremely grateful for the role that everyone has played in creating our marvellous school. We continue to be a school of choice in our region. The people at our school and the relationships between them are the strength of our school community. The dedicated staff and supportive parents enjoy working together. We encourage the students to be creative and confident through a tradition of academic rigour whilst nurturing a strong sense of social responsibility. Our students are a gift to all of us and their enthusiasm embodies our vision and God’s love.

START DATE FOR 2020 – We welcome students back to St Peter’s on Monday, 3 February 2020, wearing their correct Summer uniform. Please note classrooms will be open for stationery drop-off on Thursday, 30 January between 8.15-8.55am (please note that staff will be attending a Professional Development Day commencing at 9am and the school will be closed for the rest of the day.)
