Message from the Principal

Feeling extra busy at this time of the year? Rushing around, end of year school functions,
Christmas parties to go to, making sure you at least start a Christmas shopping list, etc, etc.
Whilst trying to keep a peaceful smile not just on your face but in your heart.
This is where “the rubber meets the road” as they say.
Am I a peaceful, encouraging, trusting person who does not let stress get to me?
For as it says in scripture: “Do not worry what to wear… do not worry about tomorrow, for today has enough worry of its own.”
“In ALL things trust in God.”
Jesus came into this world to give us peace and as he was leaving his disciples, he reiterated this:
“And peace I leave with you.”
May we extend this peace to all we meet in this “busy stressful” time of Christmas.
And most importantly be peaceful within yourself.

Dear Parents and Guardians

CAMP – This week, I have thoroughly enjoyed participating in the Year 6 Camp at Safety Bay. It has been a wonderful week of adventure, challenges, celebrations, and friendship. The Year 6 leaders can be very proud of the way they conducted themselves and supported each other. I congratulate Matt Nettleton, Jo Carbone and
Justin Fiume on their dedicated planning and facilitation of this experience. I thank our dedicated staff Holly Jacob, Paul Brennan, Jacqui Law, Bronwyn Ryan and
Courtney Caputi for assisting with the groups throughout the week.
The photographs highlight the fabulous time we all enjoyed together and memories our Year 6 children will cherish for a lifetime.

REMEMBRANCE DAY – We held a special ceremony on Thursday, led by our Year 5 students, to remember all those who have died in war. We prayed that we would keep the memories alive of those who laid down their life for the sacred cause of freedom. The students were reverent, respectful and wore their red poppies with pride.

P&F CHRISTMAS BBQ – Thank you to our families who have indicated they will be supporting our community event on Sunday. We are so grateful to be able to celebrate these wonderful events and bring our community together to give thanks for each other and our children’s friendships. Congratulations to our amazing P&F and to
Renee Bennett and her team of volunteers our sincere appreciation.

THANK YOU / AGM – On Tuesday 23rd November at 6pm, we will show our appreciation for all the wonderful volunteers we have at our school. Wine and cheese will be provided by the school prior to the commencement off the AGM at 6.30pm. We look forward to seeing you there where teachers for 2022 will be announced.

TRANSITION DAY – On Wednesday 24th November, all our students will be attending our whole school transition day. This will give our students an opportunity to meet with their 2022 classroom teacher and fellow students. On this day, we ask that our current Kindy Blue students also attend school from 8.30am – 2.45pm to meet their
Pre Primary teacher and fellow classmates. Kindy Blue students are to be dropped off at the Library at 8.30am and collected from there at 2.45pm. We believe this day will relieve concern around the beginning of the 2022 school year.

THANKSGIVING END OF YEAR MASS – We will celebrate this Mass on Friday 26th November at our St Peter’s Church. This Mass will be an opportunity to thank God for the many gifts that he has given our school community throughout this year. It is also an opportunity to celebrate the Year 6 students and staff who finish their experience at our school, at the end of the year. We will also make our Christmas donations for the Vinnies appeal at this Mass. The President of Vinnies has asked to attend and thank our school personally for our support throughout the year. Parents are most welcome to join us for this special Eucharist celebration in the Church.

YEAR 6 GRADUATION MASS – This will take place in the Church at 6pm on Wednesday 1st December. The Mass will be followed by a light supper in the Quiet Area.

CHRISTMAS CONCERT – We will celebrate our Christmas concert on Friday 3rd December. Parents provided feedback to our Leadership team and class teachers that they prefer the staggered sessions times to assist them with seating and attendance. We will also enjoy our Performing Arts performances throughout the concert. We will send a schedule of performances, as soon as possible, to assist parents with arranging their attendance.

REPORTS – These will be accessible to parents on Wednesday 8th December at 3pm. Parents have an opportunity to touch base with staff before the end of the term if there are any queries or points of clarification. As we come to the end of year reports, the following words of Samuel Truett Cathy are encouraging, not just for our children but for parents as well.

I believe God wants us to be successful….and yet success is not always obvious.
The Chinese bamboo tree does absolutely nothing- or so it seems for the first four years. Then suddenly, sometime during the fifth year, it shoots up ninety feet in sixty days.
Would you say that bamboo trees grew in six weeks, or five years?
I think our lives are akin to the Chinese bamboo tree. Sometimes we put forth effort, put forth effort, and put forth effort…and nothing seems to happen.
But if you do the right things long enough, you’ll receive the rewards of your efforts.

WOW WEEK – I hope you have all enjoyed a ‘week of wellness.’ The staff will be reviewing the Homework Policy in the last week of this year and will share this at the beginning of 2022.

Ciao and keep smiling
