Message from the Principal

And then things start to happen, don’t worry.
Don’t stew.
Just go right along.
You’ll start happening too.

Oh The Places You’ll Go – Dr Seuss

Dear Parents and Guardians

AGM – Thank you for your support at the AGM on Tuesday 1st December. This was a wonderful opportunity to thank the many parent volunteers at our school with a social gathering prior to the meeting. It was also an opportunity to thank the many people at our school who work together to ensure a great learning environment for all our children to thrive. A copy of my Principal Report can be found on the school website. My slideshows of the year that was as well as the teachers for 2021 were a hit with the community. I have included one of the slides in this newsletter.

STAFF FAREWELLS – I sincerely thank the staff, who are leaving us this year, for their dedicated service to the St Peter’s community. On behalf of us all, we wish them every success in their new ventures. We acknowledged these staff at our AGM, Final Assembly and we will also have a special presentation for them on Thursday 17th December. Thank you Deanna Gibson, Neil Hamilton-Browne, Sinead Daly, Beth Plint, Mitzi Johnston and Kayla Trimble.

YEAR 6 FAREWELL – The end of a school year always comes with mixed emotions as we farewell our graduating class of Year Six students. All our Year Six students are to be congratulated on the mature way they have conducted themselves as leaders this year and for their high level of academic achievements and sporting pursuits. As leaders, they have all fulfilled their roles with great diligence and determination. We say farewell to our Year Six students, and we wish them the very best as they enter secondary education.
The Graduation Mass, followed by the Final Assembly, were wonderful opportunities to capture the wonderful journey of our Year 6 graduates. An emotional tribute to their learning journey at our school.
To those families leaving St Peter’s this year, many whom have been long time participants in our community, we wish you the very best and thank you for your involvement and support in all our endeavours throughout the years.

REPORTS – Student reports were accessible, via Seqta, from Wednesday 9th December. Please note that access to SEQTA will be revoked by 5pm
on Tuesday 15th December 2020 for students not returning to St Peter’s in 2020 (either graduating Year 6 this year or attending another school next year). Please make it a priority to ensure you have downloaded and saved/printed copies of all documentation by this date (e.g. NAPLAN or previous reports).

ADMIN OFFICE AND STATIONERY DROP OFF – The School Front Office/Administration will be closed at 3pm on Wednesday 16th December 2020 and will re-open at 8am on Thursday 21st January 2021.
The classrooms will be open for stationery drop off only on Thursday 28th January 2021, between 2 – 3pm.
Following the stationery drop off at 2pm, please note that the School Front/Office Administration and school grounds will be closed on Friday 29th January 2021.

THANK YOU – I am truly humbled and have the upmost respect for the staff of St Peter’s. The dedicated and determined approach they have consistently displayed, in this year of challenge and fear, has been phenomenal. Their consistent dedication to create the best learning environment for the children we serve has been an honour to witness. In the words of Mother Teresa; “We cannot all do great things, but we can do small things with great love.” Love has certainly been the driving force of all members of our staff. It is with love, support and gratitude I acknowledge TEAM PETE.
I congratulate everyone in our community for their resilience, tenaciousness, creativity and resourcefulness. We have displayed throughout this year that TRUE is strong at
St Peter’s, and that we can handle anything that is thrown our way, even a pandemic.
I am extremely grateful for the role that everyone has played in creating our marvellous school. The people at our school and the relationships between them are the strength of our school community. The dedicated staff and supportive parents enjoy working together. We encourage the students to be creative and confident through a tradition of academic rigour whilst nurturing a strong sense of social responsibility. Our students are a gift to all of us and their enthusiasm embodies our Vision and God’s love.

START DATE FOR 2021 – We welcome students back to St Peter’s on Monday 1st February 2021, wearing their correct Summer uniform.

Thank you for the gift of leading this school and I wish you all a safe and blessed festive season.

Ciao and keep smiling

Pina Hutcheson
