Children’s Book Week was held from Monday 20th August 2018 to Friday 24th August 2018.

The ‘Children’s Book Council of Australia’ Book of the Year Awards aim to :-

• Promote quality literature for Young Australians
• Support and encourage a wide range of Australian authors and illustrators
• Celebrate contributions to Australian literature

Every year the Council chooses finalists from around 400 books entered into the Book Week competition.
Our teachers had their class complete an activity based on one of these short-listed books and the winners in each class were announced at our Book Week assembly on Friday 24th August.

The week before Book Week the Year 2s and 3s completed a ‘Find the Author’ competition and the Year 1s and
Years 4-6s completed a ‘fill in the missing word from the title’ competition in library time.

The winners of these competitions were announced in library time during Book Week and the students were allowed to choose either a book or something from the prize box as their prize.

We also had special activities at lunchtime while the Year 3 classes visited Inglewood Library.
